Call for projects 2024

On 11 March 2024, the Government of Flanders launched the fourth call of the Flanders International Climate Action Programme. For the project call of 2024, the Government of Flanders provides €15 million in subsidies for demonstration, dissemination, and/or capacity building projects carried out in developing countries, with a Flemish organization in the lead.

For demonstration projects, your project proposal had to be registered no later than 26 April 2024 at 2:00 PM CEST via the project portal of the Flanders International Climate Action Programme. If you haven’t registered your project proposal on time, it won’t be possible to submit a project this year. Your complete project proposal must be submitted no later than 21 June 2024 at 10:00 AM CEST. Go to the project portal >

For dissemination and/or capacity building projects, the project call was closed on 26 April 2024.

Climate-accountable projects

To be eligible for funding under the Flanders International Climate Action Programme, projects must be directly and explicitly aimed at supporting adaptation and/or mitigation actions in developing countries. More info >

Focus on 7 sectors with a significant impact on climate change

Projects should focus on areas where climate-related solutions are expected to have maximum impact, preferably in one or more of the following sectors: Biodiversity, Education & Research, Energy, Agriculture, Environmental Policy, Transport and Water & Sanitation.

Countries of Implementation for climate action

This call is aimed at projects providing support to countries listed in the call's country list, as mentioned in the manual. The list primarily emphasizes developing countries.

Project assessment

All submitted project proposals are assessed by an independent jury under the coordination of the Department of Environment.

After assessment by the assessment jury, the selected projects will be submitted to the responsible Flemish minister. The final decision on the funding of these project proposals will be made by the Government of Flanders. This decision is expected in July 2024 for dissemination and capacity building projects and in November 2024 for demonstration projects.

The Department of Environment will inform the applicants of the selection of their proposal(s) after the decision of the Government of Flanders.
